Pride N' Groom
Grooming Shop Policy
1. I will do my best to accommodate everyone's time needs, but please be aware that I am dealing with
live animals and my day rarely goes smoothly. I work with sharp tools on wiggly bodies. My first concern
has to be for the pets in my care and that means if I have to slow down and take more time to handle it
safely, then that is what I will do. I also take time out to cuddle and comfort a particular animal if they
need it, or to give them a break to relieve the stress of being groomed. Please allow me the time to do
this safely, and in return I promise that I will take good care of your pet.

2. Please make sure your dog or dogs are on leash with a properly fitted collar or harness. Do not
remove the leash, I will remove the leash once they are inside the grooming area. Because my shop
door opens directly onto the main road through town, this is the wisest course. I also advise that you
have proper ID tags attached to their collar. DO NOT BRING YOUR DOG IN WITH A SHOCK COLLAR
ON. The clippers I use can set off these collars. THERE ARE NO EXCEPTIONS!!

3. Please potty your dog before bringing him or her in for their appointment. I do not have a safe
confinement area to allow your dog to relieve themselves. This lessens the chance of your dog going to
the bathroom during the grooming process or once they are put in the crate when finished being
groomed.
THERE WILL BE AN ADDITIONAL CHARGE FOR REBATHING IF YOUR DOG RELIEVES
THEMSELVES IN THE CRATE.

4. If your dog relieves themselves outside the building, please be considerate and pick up after them. If
you do not have anything to clean up after them, please ask me, I will provide a bag or paper towel.

5. My business hours are by appointment only. I am open Tuesday thru Saturday, evening hours on
Tuesday begin at 2 pm. Daytime hours Wednesday thru Saturday begin at 8 am. Since I work by
appointment, my closing times will vary. I am closed on Sunday and Monday.

6. Please be on time for your appointment and picking up your dog when she/he are finished. If you
arrive late for your appointment this puts me behind schedule and is not fair to the clients arriving after
you. If you unable to arrive for your appointment on time, please call me as early as possible. If we
cannot accommodate a time for you in the same day, we will reschedule. It generally takes 2 hours for
grooming taking into consideration any additional circumstances that may arise. I.E. Arriving late for
appointment, badly matted dog, dog being uncooperative on the table. I will do my best to complete the
dog in a timely manner, but please realise there may be additional time needed. I will give you a call as
soon as your dog is finished. Unless I give you a specific time please wait until I call to pick up your
dog. Most dogs become very excited when their owners show up and become hard to manage on the
table. This creates an unsafe environment for both myself and the dog. Please show up on time to pick
up your dog after his/her grooming is finished. I do not have a large shop and limited crate space is
available to hold your dog after they are done.
IF YOU SHOW UP LATE FOR YOUR APPOINTMENT WITHOUT CALLING, I CANNOT GUARANTEE THAT
I WILL BE ABLE TO DO YOUR DOG. IF I CAN FIT YOUR DOG IN THERE WILL BE A $15 EXTRA
CHARGE ON TOP OF YOUR GROOMING FEE.

7. Additional Services Charge-
a. Uncooperative/aggressive behavior         $5 to $15
b. Medicated Shampoos/Rinses                   $ 6.00
c. Flea & Tick Shampoo                                $6.00
d. Excessive Matt Charge                             $15 per each  10 min period
C- Any dog arriving with fleas will be bathed with Flea and tick shampoo. If your dog has reactions to
the chemical shampoo, please advise me of this. I also have an herbal shampoo formula that works the
same without chemicals for sensitive dogs. If your dog is not able to be bathed with either shampoo
then you will need to reschedule your appointment when he/she no longer has fleas. I cannot have an
untreated dog on the premises as they can jump onto another dog infecting them. Keep in mind if your
dog has fleas, then it is likely that your home may also have them. The best course of action is to treat
your dog and home at the same. Ask me about topical preventions available to ward off the fleas.
D- I will attempt to brush out a minimally matted coat. The extra charge will be determined by how long it
takes me to brush out. Be advised that I
WILL NOT brush out a coat that is horribly matted. I reserve
the right to determine what is brushable and what is not. If the coat is too badly matted it is not fair to
your dog to put him/her through the stress of being dematted. A long hair coat needs to be brushed on
a daily basis, waiting until the next 6-8 weeks APPT is not fair to the dog or to me. I will advise you if I
need to shave the coat, if you do not want the coat shaved you have the option to reschedule after you
have brushed out the coat or taking the dog to another groomer who does not care if they stress your
dog. I do not wish to sound harsh, but I am in this business to make your pets look and feel better. Not
to stress them out and make them feel worse.  I have a pamphlet that describes in detail the correct
method of keeping your  pets coat matt and tangle free. Please ask me for a copy. If you are unable to
dedicate the time to keeping your pets coat matt free, then I suggest the coat be kept short, no longer
than 1/2 of a inch and appointments should be scheduled every 6 weeks to keep the coat that length.
The definition of a fully brushed out coat: You should be able to take a comb and run through the coat
without catching any knots in the hair.

8. I will be charging for NO Show appointments. If you do not show up for an appointment or call to
reschedule you will be charged as follows:
First incident- 1/2 the price of the groom plus the full charge of the next appointment.
Second incident- Full price for both the missed appointment and the next appointment which will need to
be paid in full before the next appointment will be scheduled.
After 3 incidences, I will no longer be willing to groom your dog. I understand that emergencies do
happen and will make exceptions on a case by case basis. However, I do ask that you understand that
this is how I make my living and a no show is lost income for me. As well as it being a lost appointment
for another pet that I could have scheduled. If you need to cancel your appointment, please do so at 2
hours prior to your appointment time. If I am not available to answer the phone at the time of your call,
you may leave a message that you need to cancel your appt and I will call you back to reschedule. If you
can not call me to cancel before your appointment time, please do so as soon as possible. If you refuse
to pay the additional charges, then you will not be given another appointment.

**There is also a $25 returned check fee. If your check is returned for any
reason, you will be required to pay this fee in addition to the cost of grooming
in cash. If your check is returned and no reimbursement has been made, I will
not accept your dog for grooming again. If reimbursement has been made,
future grooming services must be paid in cash, we will no longer accept a
check.**

9. Please be honest when asked if your dog has ever bitten or snapped at anyone. If there is any area
that is sensitive to your dog, please advise me.  I may not necessarily refuse a dog that has a history of
biting, but I will be better prepared to handle your dog if I am aware of their situation. If during the
grooming appointment, it becomes unsafe or I am unable to handle your dog, I will call you to pick him
or her up and refer you to another groomer. Sometimes all it needs is for me to have my assistant help
me to hold, and sometimes they may need more.

10. While at the grooming shop, please don't attempt to touch, talk to, approach or pet another dog
that is in the tub, on the table or in the waiting area without checking with either the owner or myself to
make sure the dog is friendly. While I strive to make their grooming experience a pleasant one, many
dogs get nervous or stressed while at the shop. This can lead to a dog snapping or biting out of fear,
especially if approached by a stranger.
PLEASE ADHERE TO THIS EVEN THOUGH A DOG MAY BE
HANGING OUT IN THE GROOMING AREA. I SOMETIMES ALLOW CERTAIN DOGS THE FREEDOM TO
EXPLORE THE SHOP WHILE AWAITING THEIR OWNERS, HOWEVER ANY DOG IS CAPABLE OF BITING
IF STARTLED OR NERVOUS.

11. I also ask that if you have children to please leave them at home when dropping off or picking up
your dog. If this is not possible, please keep them under complete supervision while in the shop. Do not
allow them to pet a strange dog while you are here. Refer to rule # 10, this is most important for
children. Many dogs are not used to children and can be easily frightened by them. Please ask your
children to make as little noise as possible so that they do not excite any other dog that is in for
grooming.
If you have multiple, or large dogs or multiple children, I will be more than willing to help you
escort your dog to the car. Please let me know if you need assistance. I would rather do this, than see
you, your dog or children be injured while picking up or dropping off your dog.

12. The waiting area in the shop is small. If your dog has people or dog issues, please let me know
when making your appointment so I can make a notation on your card and can schedule your dog in to
avoid any conflicts. I try to make this a safe environment as possible so that there is not an abundance
of people arriving at the same time. However, there are times that this may happen, this is especially
important for dogs that do not like children or are not used to them.

I would like to thank you for cooperating with my rules and for giving me the opportunity to care for your
pets and your business. These rules are designed to provide the maximum safety and comfort for all
concerned, most especially your pet, which is why I am in this chosen field.

Thank you,
Stacey
