Q. How often does my dog need to be groomed?
A. How often a dog is groomed depends on a number of factors. On average,
dogs should be groomed every six to eight weeks. If you prefer not to be
burdened with daily brushing, your dog should be groomed more often, and
keeping the coat very short to minimize matting is best. If you like to keep
your dog's coat trimmed short, you may be able to get away with more time
between professional grooming sessions. It also depends on your dog's
breed, coat type and how much time it spends outside. Please call for a
personal consultation.
Q. Do you groom cats?
A. No, we do not offer cat grooming. They are to unpredictable and difficult
to manage for me to feel comfortable handling them.
Q. Do you offer a multiple dog discount?
A. We do not offer discounts for multiple dogs as they take twice as much
time as just one. However, we do offer a frequent grooming discount.
Q. Are vaccinations required and proof required?
A. On a personal level, I follow the Jean Dodds protocol on
vaccinations. Since rabies is required by law, I do require that
your dog is vaccinated against rabies and show proof. For the
other vaccinations, I accept proof of either titers or vaccinations.
Q. What if my dog is aggressive or a biter?
A. While I don't groom dogs that are extremely aggressive, I base
each decision of whether or not to groom your dog depending on
their behavior with me. Each dog relates differently to different
groomers. While your dog may be bad for another groomer, he or
she may be good for me and vice versa.
Q. What payment methods are accepted?
A. As of right now, we only accept cash or check. We may add
credit cards to that in the future, we will let you know if we do.
Payment is due at the time of service.
Q. How long will grooming take?
A. Depending on the condition of the coat and the behavior of your
dog, it generally takes 1 1/2 to 2 hours for grooming. It also depends
on what you want done. Keep in mind that dogs and puppies being
groomed for the first time may take longer. Dogs that are unused to
being groomed may be more uncooperative and will take longer.
Q. Can I stay while you groom my dog?
A. Due to insurance liability, I am unable to allow you to stay while
your dog is being groomed. This is for your dog's safety as well as
mine. Most dogs are better for grooming if their owners are not here,
and it creates less stress for them, especially once they get used to
the routine of being groomed.
Q. What if I have to cancel my appointment?
A. I ask that you give as much notice as possible if you need to
cancel the appointment. 24 hours notice is preferred, but I
understand that this is not always possible. At least two hours is
required if you need to cancel, otherwise there will be an additional
$15 charge applied to the next grooming appointment. We also ask
that you make every effort to be on time dropping off and picking up
your dog. Unless prior arrangements are made, we will charge a $15
late fee if you are not on time.
